DexMat Earns ISO 9001 Certification for Galvorn Manufacturing

DexMat has earned ISO 9001 certification, the international standard for quality management systems, for its Galvorn® carbon nanotube fiber manufacturing operations. The certification was issued by ABS Quality Evaluations, an ANAB-accredited certification body operating under the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement, under Certificate No. QMS10657, effective July 30, 2026 through July 29, 2029. It covers the design, development, manufacture, characterization, and supply of Galvorn® carbon nanotube fiber, yarn, and film products at DexMat's Houston, Texas facility.

What ISO 9001 Actually Certifies

ISO 9001 is the world's most widely adopted quality management standard, published by the International Organization for Standardization. It certifies a company's process control rather than the properties of a specific product: how incoming materials are inspected, how production is managed, how defects are caught and corrected, and how customer requirements carry through the organization from order to delivery. An independent auditor reviews those processes every year to confirm they hold up in practice, not just on paper.

Why Manufacturers Require It

For many industries, ISO 9001 is a prerequisite for doing business at all. Aerospace and defense primes, automotive OEMs and their Tier 1 suppliers, and energy and utility companies typically require ISO 9001 certification before they will add a materials supplier to an approved vendor list, regardless of how strong the underlying product is. A supplier without it can be screened out of sourcing conversations before a technical evaluation ever starts. These are exactly the customers DexMat sells into today, so the certification satisfies a procurement requirement those customers already expect from their suppliers.

What Certification Signals

ISO 9001 certification validates that DexMat's manufacturing scale-up is backed by process control audited to an internationally recognized industry standard. It means procedures are documented rather than held in a handful of people's heads, defects are caught and corrected through a formal process, and customer requirements carry through production consistently from one order to the next. For customers evaluating DexMat as a long-term supplier, that is what turns a promising material into a dependable one.

Where This Fits for DexMat

DexMat produces Galvorn in Houston, Texas, and ships globally to customers in aerospace and defense, automotive, and energy. Those customers set strict, often mission-critical quality requirements, and DexMat has held itself to that bar since its first shipment. ISO 9001 certification formalizes that standard with an independent, third-party audit, giving customers documented proof of what DexMat already does in daily production. It is one more way DexMat puts independent verification behind its commitment to serving customers well.

"ISO 9001 represents another step on DexMat's path to manufacturing maturity. We were already going above and beyond: triple checking Galvorn properties, dealing transparently with our customers, and bending over backwards to make it right if something went amiss," said Oliver S. Dewey, PhD, DexMat's Director of Scale-Up & Manufacturing. "Certification required us to formalize these practices and gives our customers third party validation that our quality control is top notch."
